The Northeast Health District is seeking a Registered Nurse to focus on COVID-19 Vaccination Outreach efforts.   The position would be based in Athens, GA and would be responsible for traveling and setting up vaccination clinics across the Northeast Health District’s 10 counties (Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton).   Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols.  The registered nurse must be legally able to administer vaccines, must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time, tolerate heat and/or cold while working outside wearing a face mask and other necessary personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift.    

The registered nurse will be responsible for COVID-19 vaccine storage and handling, vaccine preparation, and vaccine administration.  Provide patient education and excellent customer service. Must maintain a high level of integrity, work ethic, enthusiasm, customer service, and professionalism.  Adheres to protocols set in place for vaccine administration including, but not limited to, appropriate patient identification, registration, labeling, preparation and administration of vaccine, and data entry. Ensures that all safety precautions, HIPAA requirements and data entry are accurate and acknowledged.

Registered nurse may assist with organizing events, set up and breakdown of sites, traffic control, and maintaining flow for each facility and/or event. Assist the Outreach Coordinator with preparation of supplies for each clinic including, but not limited to, organizing, packing and stocking supplies for each facility. Reliable transportation required. Mileage will be reimbursed for travel to and from outreach sites.

When not serving in the Outreach function, work will include providing assistance at a health department.

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registration Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Note: No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
Fluent in English and Spanish.  Experience, or comfortability, with providing services in community-based settings.

Annual salary $57,000. Plus, generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
