The Northeast Health District WIC office is seeking an Assistant Nutrition Services Director to primarily supervise, hire, and train district WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors per WIC policies and procedures. Oversees the planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of local agency peer counseling activities. Assists the Nutrition Services Director in hiring, supervising, and training WIC nutritionists and WIC support staff per USDA standards. Assists with reporting peer counselor, nutritionist, and WIC support staff activities to the District and State Agency. Ensures the effective and efficient delivery of quality WIC services consistent with USDA and State requirements. Maintains local agency WIC breastfeeding supply inventories. Creates/maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation. Provides nutritionist clinic coverage at all twelve health department locations throughout the district as needed. Provides nutritional consultation to clinic staff and other professionals to assist them with improving health outcomes and prevention of disease onset in clinics they serve. Maintains responsibility for professional continuing education to enable the application of current professional practice.  Keeps current with up-to-date breastfeeding and nutrition information and disseminates this as well as FNS-provided information to other local agency staff as needed. Coordinates with local community stakeholders such as hospitals and health care providers to enhance the effectiveness of the WIC Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university from an Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics accredited program AND Four years of nutrition experience, Two years of which are management/supervisory capacity AND registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Commission AND licensure as a Dietitian in the State of Georgia.

OR

Master’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, food & nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics accredited program AND Two years of experience, One year of which in a management/supervisory capacity AND registration as a Dietitian in the state of Georgia.

Preferred Qualifications:
Has, at minimum, 1 year of experience in counseling breastfeeding women. Has successfully completed specialized training in lactation management and care ( Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Annual salary $63,000 plus generous benefits including 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
